T-TALKS: New Beginnings

Starting something new? Perhaps a new job, a new role or a new business?

In the beginning there can be overwhelm, information overload, feelings of inadequacy; the unknown lies ahead.

Put on your explorer coat – take small steps, listen, read, observe, ask questions.

Your senses are heightened because everything is new and different. It can help to keep a reflections diary, which will help you later on, once you have long forgotten your first impressions, which might be essential to recommending or implementing change.

A focus button can also help you achieve a more relaxed state. Identify a spot on the wall near you or draw a dot and place it somewhere nearby. Focus all your attention on this button or dot, for a few minutes to the exclusion of everything else. Then allow yourself to slowly become aware of your surroundings, coming back to the room. This focus button literally slows down your brain waves and allows you to focus again.

Mantras

I take each step with great mindfulness.

As I take small steps I know that the whole picture will eventually unfold and reveal itself to me. I slow down and savour the journey.

I am a courageous explorer and my listening, observation and communication skills will help me be a pioneer on this new adventure.

All the best.

Love always
